White Leghorn Fertile Eggs
The Leghorn is a lightweight, active chicken breed that originated in Tuscany,
Italy, near the port city of Livorno — known in English as Leghorn. Introduced to
America in the mid-1800s, the breed quickly became one of the most popular
egg-laying chickens in the country.
Known as one of the best egg producers available, Leghorns are capable of
laying 250–320+ large white eggs each year. These energetic and alert birds are
excellent foragers that enjoy roaming and exploring. They are agile fliers and
may roost in trees when given the opportunity.
Leghorns are recognized for their stylish appearance, red wattles, white
earlobes, and either single or rose combs. While highly productive, they are often
independent, noisy, and somewhat flighty compared to calmer backyard breeds.
Hens rarely go broody, making them dependable layers throughout the year.
