Golden Laced Polish Fertile Eggs
The Golden Laced Polish is a unique and eye-catching chicken breed admired
for its dramatic feather crest and beautifully patterned plumage. Their rich golden
feathers outlined with bold black lacing give them an elegant, ornamental
appearance that makes them especially popular in exhibitions, backyard flocks,
and as friendly companion birds. Though they are primarily kept for their looks
and personality, hens also produce a steady supply of small to medium white
eggs throughout the year.
Polish chickens are lightweight birds, with roosters typically reaching around 6
pounds and hens averaging closer to 4.5 pounds. They have distinctive slate-
blue legs and a small V-shaped comb that is often hidden beneath their large
“top hat” of feathers.
Known for their gentle and calm personalities, Golden Laced Polish tend to be
lower in the flock hierarchy and may be picked on by more assertive breeds.
They usually do best when paired with other docile chickens. Because their large
crests can limit their vision, they are easily startled and require extra protection
from predators.
These birds handle warmer climates fairly well but are less suited for cold, damp
conditions. Their crest feathers can hold moisture, increasing the risk of chills or
illness during wet or freezing weather.
